Manufacturing

manufacturing
Since 1949 we have supplied Canadian industry with the best quality components in  hydraulic, pneumatic and electric controls. Our technical staff has vast experience in the design, manufacture and installation of complete systems, large and small. Our achievements have made Rousseau Controls a leader in its field.

Some industrial projects we have undertaken are:
* Computer-controlled position actuators for paper mill head-box slice control. (Overall
   accuracy .0005 inch.)
* A microprocessor-controlled vertical parking garage whereby each car is loaded on a  platform
  and stores on a higher level.
* A microprocessor-controlled flying shear, which positions and cuts steel sheet to length while
  moving at 100 ft. per minute. (In this application, both position and velocity feedback loops
  where employed. The microprocessor was specially designed and produced for the project.
  Overall shear accuracy was better than .010 inch.)
* Central lubricating systems for various companies.
* High accuracy speed and torque controlled drives for conveyors, screw feeds and large
  winches. (We also produce controlled speed and controlled torque hydraulic drives as
  turnkey packages.)

A few other contracts in which Rousseau Controls has participated include:

* Rehabilitation of lift locks: Peterborough and Kirkland
* Mitre gate lock system: Trent, Rideau and Quebec Canal
* Hydro electric head stock gates, Mactaquac, New Brunswick
  Car ferry loading ramps:
* Saint John, N.B. - Digby, N.S.- Tobermory - South - Baymouth, Ont. - Kingston -
  Wolfe  Island,Ont.
* Mobile test stand: F105, F86, CF104, CP5 Aircraft
* Mobile and stationary test De Havilland Aircraftstands:
* Canadair R.C.I. has produced production and test equipment for Canada'saircraft industry
   from the Avro Arrow through to the current F18 aircraft.
* Commissary baggage and cleaning vehicles for B707, 727, 737, 747, DC8 and DC 10 Aircraft
   for C.P. Air, C.P. Hotels, Wardair and Golden Arrow
* Prototype and production variable speed drives and test equipment for Canadian Pratt &
  Whitney PT6 Engines
* Electronically-controlled constant speed, 60 HP drives Via Rail Cars
* Variable speed elevator leg drives for Department of Supply and Service
* Conveyor drives for FMC B.C. Coal Co.
* Fully automated high pressure, production test facilities Aeroquip Corp., Perth, Ont.  and
  Poluca, Mexico
* Hydraulic power unit with Bombardier electric and hydraulic controls for CF-18 durability test
  rig (Canadair Division)
* Rousseau Controls' head gate lifting equipment and controls have been in service at  Grand
  Rapids, Manitoba for some 20 years and our Mactaquac installations have been provided for
  two expansions of the power house.

Engineering

Rousseau Controls specializes in the design and fabrication of hydraulic and  pneumatic equipment as well as electrically-operated and/or electronically controlled systems. These projects are usually produced for a customer's specific needs. Normally we  do not perform the function of a general contractor and usually when involved in new  construction, act as a sub-contractor.
EngineerRousseau provides engineering assistance to its customers in their applications and will undertake consulting engineering services when requested. The engineering office has its own design programs. (This facet of their capabilities was described in an article in Design Engineering Magazine for July 1982.
We will construct drives or equipment to customer's specification. Whenever possible, however, we prefer to consult with customers during the design phase of a project to assist in the application of hydraulic components or systems and advise in the specification preparation phase. Past experience in the  production of aircraft ground support equipment has caused us to become familiar with various quality control specifications.
